Dear friends and family of Micala Siler,
Micala’s life was shaped by three simple words: Pray. Act. Inspire.
♥ She prayed for God’s guidance.
♥ She acted with courage to defend the vulnerable.
♥ And she inspired countless others to do the same.
At the core of Micala’s life was a deep compassion for others. Whether helping raise her six younger siblings, her own children, leading A Family for Every Orphan, or reaching out to children around the world, her heart and belief was that every child should know the love and safety of a family.

This year marks five years since Micala went to heaven. In her honor, we invite you to join this year’s annual Miles of Smiles for Micala — walk, run, bike, or swim while reflecting on how your life can inspire others, just as Micala’s did. This year’s event will take place October 17-27.

This year’s event also highlights a cause that was close to Micala’s heart: helping families remain together through life’s hardest challenges. In many parts of the world, winter brings not only cold, but also the threat of separation — when parents cannot keep their children warm, poverty can force them into orphanages.
• In Ukraine, families face freezing nights without firewood, as nearby forests are mined and destroyed by war.
• In India, children huddle under thin sheets when nighttime temperatures dip below freezing.
Something as simple as a blanket or a bundle of firewood can mean the difference between families staying together or being torn apart.
