Eight-year-old Riya lost her mother at a young age. Since then, her father has been working long hours as a day laborer, doing everything he can to care for her. He tries to provide for their basic needs — but his income is inconsistent and often isn’t enough to cover school expenses and other necessities.
Eventually, the emotional, educational, and developmental challenges Riya faced became a strain that weighed heavily on her. She fell behind in her studies Her father began to wonder, “How can I give my daughter the support she needs?”
That’s where AFFEO was able to step in to give this family hope!
Through the family strengthening program of AFFEO’s partner in India, Riya received just what she needed to return to school consistently: the funds to cover tuition, books, and a uniform. Equally important, this program provided Riya with emotional support to help her work through her past hardships. The financial and prayer support from people like you that undergirded this program reminded Riya and her father that they are not alone.
Today, Riya growing in confidence. She is is attending school regularly, her learning has improved, and she is beginning to heal from the loss of her mother. With joy, she shares, “Thank you for helping me continue my studies. I want to study and make my father proud.”
