From Seeds to Harvest…and More!

Last fall, thanks to your prayers and gifts from the AFFEO network, gardens and greenhouses in Ukraine overflowed with God’s provision — vegetables, herbs, and fruits in abundance! Families displaced and impacted by war have canned some of this food to carry them through the harsh winter months.

In the fall Andriy, long-time AFFEO partner and project lead for Seeds of Hope and firewood distribution in Ukraine, reported:

Thank you for your prayers and help with seed boxes, greenhouses, and firewood for this coming winter. It means a lot to these families, more than you can imagine, and the needs continue to grow.We continue to work closely with local social services and military offices to identify the children and their families most in need of support. Many of these families identified are single parent households. Many have one parent currently on the frontlines or that has tragically been killed in combat. Many are families who have been displaced by conflict, having to leave all of their possessions behind, along with families with many children, including children with disabilities. Given the increase in shelling, the need is increasing every month, as more families flee from newly occupied areas and seek safety and a way to live.

Thank you so much for your ongoing prayers for these endeavors! Please continue to pray especially for hundreds of families who are still in need of firewood, especially after recent bombings on energy infrastructure. Each bundle of wood, blanket or other winter essential that is provided means more than comfort — each is a lifeline that gives warmth, dignity and unity. Most importantly, they allow children to remain safely in the care and love of their own families, where they belong.

As traumatized families receive this help, bridges of trust begin to build between the families and their new communities, NGOs, and local authorities. And as families begin to trust again, they’re more likely to seek out additional forms of social and psychological support they really need, helping them move from survival to stability. Please pray that more needs will be met and more trust will be built!

Thank you again for your prayer partnership that is bringing healing, hope, and connection as families reintegrate into new communities. We are deeply grateful for your part in protecting children by keeping families strong and together!
