The mother of two 3-year-old twins, Margarita and Miroslavi, was tragically killed by a fragment from a Russian shell.
To prepare food, their mom went out of the basement, because there is no light or gas in the city – the food had to be cooked on the fire. It was at this moment that the Russians launched artillery shelling. They couldn’t save her, the girls’ mother died in the hospital within a couple of hours.
Dmitry knew he needed to get his precious girls to safety and contacted AFFEO partners leading evacuations.
These sweet girls along with their father were evacuated to safety in western Ukraine thanks to your support. Margarita and Miroslavi snuggled stuffed animals on the train as they left the only home they’ve ever known, but longed for comfort of their momma.
Although now safe, Margarita and Miroslavi are now without their loving mother, in a new place, and need support to start their new lives.
These girls and their father have experienced the horrors of war and now grieve the loss of their momma and wife. Your support will show these sweet girls, and the many like them, that they are not forgotten, that they are loved, and that they will continue to be cared for.
