Nina, a young orphan in Ukraine, was smaller and thinner than other children her age. She only spoke a few words and had medical diagnoses that seemed overwhelming. Unfortunately, children like Nina are at major risk of being lost in the orphanage system. 

Providentially, AFFEO supports efforts in Ukraine to give visibility to orphans like Nina. A video profile was created for Nina and shared on a website for prospective foster and adoptive families. Often such videos provide more than words on paper about children’s medical conditions.

As one couple watched Nina in action, stacking blocks and quietly playing with toys, they glimpsed her heart and true spirit. Her medical diagnoses didn’t seem so daunting anymore.

After viewing the video, this couple felt a deep connection with Nina and pursued adoption with open hearts and minds. She is now in their loving home! They recently reported that Nina is quickly catching up to her peers in development, through individual attention, continuous care and love, and specialized rehabilitation.

We praise God for technology that leads to wonderful results like this! Nina’s transformation has been described as nothing short of miraculous.
