AFFEO affiliate the Paraguay Protects Families movement (PPF) is steadily and significantly expanding the vision of family care for vulnerable children in Paraguay. Years of faithful effort have led to a major breakthrough: The president of Paraguay has declared family care a national priority and asked PPF to help engage the church and equip families. Paraguay has also become the first Latin American country to join the UK’s foreign policy campaign, leading a new global alliance for lasting reform in children’s social care. These efforts are ensuring that vulnerable children grow up in safe, loving families rather than institutions or high-risk environments. With God’s guidance, Paraguay is becoming a model for transforming child protection and family care worldwide.
Won’t you pray with us that these efforts would continue and expand? It is crucial that new churches and organizations in Paraguay (1) become aware of the need for adoption and fostering within the country, (2) understand how PPF provides training and resources to help support foster and adoptive families, and (3) know where there are specific children in need of adoption — and what they can do to help place them in permanent, loving families. Our prayer is that PPF would continue to assist churches and government officials to be aware of the possibilities for vulnerable children and advocate for them.
One avenue to bring awareness, especially in churches, is through Orphan Sunday, the second Sunday in November, set aside to pray for orphans and vulnerable children around the world. It is a great way for Christians to learn about and become sensitive to the many orphans and foster children who are dreaming of having a forever mother and father. These children are waiting. And they are praying. Let us join our hearts with theirs! Thank you!
