Please Pray for Seeds in Ukraine!

We apologize for a glitch in the update sent on Monday. Here is the correct post:  Spring is coming to Ukraine, but for families devastated by war and displacement, the season of renewal feels out of reach. Many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even their ability to feed their children.

When a family cannot put food on the table, their children are at risk of being placed in an orphanage — not because they are unloved, but because poverty forces impossible choices.

That’s why AFFEO‘s Seeds of Hope program is about more than just food — it’s about keeping families together. Each Seeds of Hope box contains 20 types of vegetable and herb seeds (as well as a few flower seeds) that can provide fresh, nourishing food while restoring dignity and joy. These seeds can give a family the ability to grow their own food, sustain their children, and remain together.

Right now, a dozen of our partners in Ukraine have identified 10,000 families in desperate need of seeds. These families include:

  • Displaced families on the frontlines
  • Newly widowed mothers
  • Large foster and adoptive families
  • Military families
  • Parents raising children with disabilities

These families are among the most vulnerable, and they need our prayers now! Time is running out—the planting season in Ukraine only lasts through April, so every day counts. Please join us in praying that God would provide the resources so that these families will have the seeds they need to grow their own food, provide sustenance for their children and change their lives for the better.

AFFEO Seeds of Hope partner, Andriy, has said, Every time I hand a family a box of seeds, I see and feel their joy and gratitude. It gives them the hope they need at a very difficult time. They know a harvest will come.”

Your prayers are invaluable during this coming month — and can help protect vulnerable children, making sure that they grow up in the love and safety of their family, not in an institution. Thank you so much for continuing to stand with at-risk children in Ukraine.
