Your Prayers Can Help Keep Families Together!

In the heart of Ghana, two young teenagers, Beth and Joseph, faced the heartbreaking possibility of being separated from their mother, Esther. Struggling to meet her children’s daily needs, Esther was on the brink of sending Beth and Joseph across the country to live with a relative who could do so. But this move would not only split the family; it would also force the teenagers to drop out of school, since there were no educational opportunities where they would be.

When children are separated from their families or forced to drop out of school, the risks of ending up in an orphanage, living on the streets in poverty, or being trafficked increase significantly. Preventing separation helps prevent tragic outcomes.

An AFFEO partner that focuses on family strengthening graciously stepped in to prevent Beth and Joseph from being sent away. Through AFFEO’s financial and prayer support — and dedicated team members on the ground — Esther received the monetary aid essential to keep her children in school. Most importantly, Esther, Beth, and Joseph were able to remain together as a family.

Esther also invested a portion of the funds she received into her yam business. With determination and hard work, her business began to thrive. This newfound stability allowed her to pay her rent for the year, save for the future, and provide for her children’s needs. This wrap-around support created an environment where Beth and Joseph could focus on their education and they could all thrive together as a family!

We send our heartfelt thanks for your prayer support of efforts like those that helped Esther’s family. Please continue to pray as similar ongoing AFFEO endeavors are helping families stay together in Ghana and other countries.

Many families in situations like Esther’s need financial assistance to become self-sustaining and keep their families from being separated. Your prayers to that end help AFFEO provide not only temporary relief, but also hope and tools to strengthen the future for these families. By empowering families in difficult situations to become self-sufficient, you prevent the pain of family separation and help transform the lives of the next generation!

Thank you so much for praying with us!
