Will you give an orphan the gift of family this Christmas?

At only three years of age, Yury was orphaned and adopted, along with his younger sister Lilya. Although in a loving family, Yury struggled for six years with aggression towards his peers and parents, Natalia and Dima, using his behavior to express his needs. He avoided eye contact and shunned hugs or any form of affection. Yury’s parents were exhausted, having tried traditional parenting techniques that only seemed to increase Yury’s aggression. They battled shame and guilt as thoughts of returning Yury to the orphanage crossed their minds — they were at the end of their rope

However, Yury’s adoptive mom, Natalia, attended a trust-based relational intervention (TBRI) training that YOU supported. Through TBRI training, Natalia learned the meaning behind Yury’s behavior. The training gave her tools to build trust and connection with him and navigate dysregulation to help him feel safe.

After putting TBRI practices in place, Natalia noted that, “A real miracle happened: (Yury) began to listen to me, his aggression towards other children and us as parents decreased. For the first time, he allowed himself to be hugged and started hugging us. He began showing affection and expressing his feelings.”

There are thousands and thousands of children who need this type of care. Through trauma-informed care provided by AFFEO partners, your gifts help children like Yury through therapeutic programs to learn self-regulation and how to use their voice to express their needs. Will you give freedom and hope to vulnerable children today?

Your support is the hope and lifeline they need to recover!

Furthermore, your gifts empower caregivers with training to understand and nurture children with a history of trauma. This is vital, as it provides them with a deeper understanding of what their children may be experiencing internally, growing “eyes of empathy,” and provides them with tips and tools to navigate parenting challenges, allowing families to remain together and strong.

Will you give a gift today?

The need is vast and urgent! Any amount you give will offer orphans and vulnerable children the chance to heal from their past, allowing them to thrive in their families!

And, thanks to a generous donation, now through December 31st your gift will be doubled, up to $20,000!

God has given us the ability to comfort others as He graciously comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Thank you for offering hope and comfort to vulnerable children and families. Your compassion and generosity can change the trajectory of a child’s life forever!
